Upgrade to WinXP from Win98/WinMe

When you complete an upgrade to WinXP from Win98 or WinMe and Setup restarts your computer you get the following message: “Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt. C:\Windows\\system32\hal.dll. Please re-install a copy of the above file

Solutin this problem, restart the computer, select Cancel Windows XP Setup in Windows Advanced Options to uninstall WinXP, and then run Setup again
