Why Use an External Monitor

Nearly all laptops offer a VGA port essentially identical in specifications to the output of the same port on a desktop computer. Relatively few laptops offer a DVI port to drive an LCD monitor with a digital signal.

Here are you use an external monitor :
  1. To make a presentation on a large monitor or projection system.
  2. In a small presentation room, you might want one LCD screen facing you while you speak and a second monitor or screen facing the conferees watching raptly from around the table.
  3. To extend your output to a second screen.
  4. To test or work around a failed LCD display.
